James Blake, “Limit To Your Love”

I like this in the same way that I like Kendal Johansson’s “Blue Moon,” in that I’m used to hearing the song a certain way and find the cover version initially jarring, and then come to embrace it for its very jarringness. I also like how Feist songs are becoming contemporary standards.

Bon Iver, “The Park”

A while back I downloaded Bon Iver’s incredibly lovely cover of Feist’s “The Park,” made when he was visiting an Australian radio station, and for months I listened to it endlessly. I only recently found the video of the performance, which is … okay. It doesn’t exactly add anything to see the prosaic studio trappings or the deejays solemnly looking on, or to listen to their prefatory chucklings.
